Lk 18:1-8. Dan Kroon. At the end of this series on ‘drawing near’ to God, the most important thing we need to remember is the call to persevere; to endure; to persist. In our prayers, our reading, our time out with God – we need to press on; to stay the course. Because it’s easy to get weary. It’s easy to question whether there’s any point. It’s easy to just give up. But Jesus is coming back. Resolution is promised. Fulfilment is guaranteed. God will not delay unnecessarily. Jesus knows our hearts and he knows what we need – so he urges us to pray ‘day and night’; over and over; all the time. Because in prayer we are strengthened. In prayer our faith is expressed. In prayer we find comfort. And the perspective and urgency for this praying is all in God’s Word – the source.
